Housing Programs

We offer a variety of housing assistance programs to low and middle income households in Missoula and the surrounding area. There is a difference between the programs that offer help paying your rent, which we refer to as “subsidized housing,” and properties that offer fixed rents that are lower than market rate, which we refer to as “affordable housing.” The subsidized programs have waiting lists. The affordable properties may have units immediately available, or will have waiting lists if no units are vacant.

We also have properties and programs that are set aside for homeless individuals or families.

Affordable Housing

We own and manage several affordable housing projects, including Low Income Housing Tax Credit
properties. In affordable housing properties, tenants must income qualify and the rents are capped by the state. This creates several rent-controlled properties in Missoula in an environment where market rate rents are continually increasing. Subsidized Housing

We manage several subsidized housing programs, including Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, Shelter Plus Care vouchers, and Project-Based Vouchers. In subsidized housing programs, participants must income qualify and their rent is based on their income. Typically, a participant pays 30% of their monthly income toward rent. Our Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and Shelter Plus Care vouchers can be used in our affordable housing properties.
